Cultivating philanthropy at The BIG Give

On Friday, September 8, 2017, I Live Here I Give Here highlighted community accomplishments over the past decade and honored its individual and business supporters at the biggest BIG Give yet. This BIG Give celebrated ten years of giving back with I Live Here I Give Here at the Hotel Van Zandt in downtown Austin. The 2017 event featured local food and drink, live music by Keeper, and a silent auction all helping to raise a record-setting $133,000 to support I Live Here I Give Here in their mission to cultivate the power of giving back.

The “Three T’s of Philanthropy” were woven throughout the evening with awards given to recognize the time and talent donated by volunteers and the treasure raised to support Central Texas nonprofits. Among other initiatives, I Live Here I Give Here facilitates Amplify Austin Day, an annual community-wide day of online giving which has raised over $35 million for hundreds of local organizations in the past five years. At the 2017 BIG Give, cash prizes were awarded to two nonprofits excelling in donor engagement, Big Medium and Partners in Parenting, with The BIG Give Nonprofit Awards.

BIG Giver Brittany Morrison

Brittany Morrison was honored as the 2017 Patsy Woods Martin BIG Giver award recipient for her work with Hospice Austin. While accepting the award, Brittany gave an inspiring speech sharing her story with the room of over 400 attendees. “It is the everyday giving back that sustains our communities… there is no one way to give back, no dollar amount too small, no time too short,” Morrison encouraged the audience, “No matter your age, position, or volunteer experience, there is always an opportunity to help a person in need.”
