What is a GivingCity Austin New Philanthropist?
For the third year, GivingCity has asked our readers to nominate outstanding individuals for our list of New Philanthropists. Each year we received about 75 nominations and we somehow whittle them down to 20 — people the GivingCity committee decides are truly doing innovative and important work.
The qualifications we seek include:
INNOVATIVE: New Philanthropists see a need and don’t wait for permission. They do something about it, sometimes risking their personal or professional well being.
IN THEIR DNA: For some New Philanthropists, their work is their day job. But even if it weren’t, these people would pursue their missions anyway. It’s not about getting paid, it’s about getting it done.
IRREPLACEABLE: With their unique combination of experience, talent, energy and perspective, each of them is uniquely suited to what they do.
These aren’t just volunteers and donors. These are activists using new tools and strategies, building communities and collaborations, and investing deeply in a cause they’re passionate about.
Nominations are accepted in April with New Philanthropists named in the Summer issue of GivingCity Austin.
