So when Heather and Alex Ladage were approached by Ballet Austin to co-chair its annual Fete event, Heather knew she could do it. But she had to do it her way.
“The thing we said to Ballet Austin was, ‘We want to help you raise money to increase access to ballet to more Central Texans, but we don’t want to pick the flowers, we don’t want to pick the linens.’ We approached it from a much more business aspect,” says Heather. “We looked at where we could be the most effective.”
Early on, the Ladages set a goal to sell out Fete before the end of the summer, which happened. They also wanted a great portion of the proceeds to go toward the cause, another goal achieved, says Ladage, thank to generous sponsors like The Driskill and Mandarin Flower Company.
“We’re so excited to be at the Driskill again this year,” says Ladage, “but the space there only holds 220 people, and the challenge is that I’d like to sell more tickets!”
This year expect a lush garden setting that evokes Ballet Austin’s season opener, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The plan is to sweep you up in the beauty of the Driskill and encourage you to bid on live auction items and purchase raffle tickets featuring one-of-a-kind packages.
While tickets for the main event, Fete, are sold out, the companion event, fete*ish starts around dinner time and still has a few tickets left. Grab them here.
