Models of Impact SXSW honors community service organizations

Do you work for a nonprofit or social impact organization? Want some inspiration? Or how about some ideas for effective ways to support your community? Take a look at the 2019 SXSW Community Service Award Organization Honorees.

The SXSW Community Service Award celebrates organizations that work in the space of film, music, education and gaming and that serve the Austin area. SXSW also presents grants to the honorees for their work toward solutions to community issues, especially in the areas of improving the lives of those who are underprivileged or disenfranchised.

The 2019 SXSW Community Service Award Organization Recipients:

Born2Walk – Through the use of 3-D modeling and printing, Born2Walk provides adjustable and modular below-knee prosthetics to people in developing countries, free of charge.

Black Girls CODE – The Black Girls CODE mission is to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by providing girls from underrepresented communities access to technology and the skills necessary to become tech leaders.

HRA Studios & Foundation (HRAF) – HRAF provides music and arts education and outreach to treatment centers, clinics, schools, shelters, and individuals.

Lights Camera Discover – This organization supports young people by providing arts workshops; including acting, digital filmmaking, photography, screenwriting, digital editing, web design and motion graphics.

StreetBooks ATX – The StreetBooksATX mobile lending library is for members of the local community with no fixed address. The goal is to provide hope and encouragement to the frequently overlooked members of the Austin community.

The Mobile River (Colorado River Alliance) – The Colorado River Alliance champions the long-term vitality of the Texas Colorado River through education and engagement with programs that reach over 14,000 students and community members annually.
