Favorite Fundraisers for September 2013

SEPT 6: Fete and Fete*ish benefitting Ballet Austin, natch. I’ve never been to this, probably because it sells out early and because my working mom figure could not be in the same room with all those dancers. I’ve heard it’s going to be amazing, but go ahead and see what co-chair Heather Ladage had to say. (Hint: It’s going to be amazing.) More info…

SEPT 9: Andy Miller of LIVEstrong fame (and an SU alumus like I am!) celebrates his new endeavor with the MillerStephens & Associates Launch Party Benefiting The Handsome Father. I noticed this one on  Facebook and had to inquire. More info…

SEPT 13: The iCare Gala is incredibly sweet. I attended a couple of years ago and was totally moved by the mission and accomplishments of this organization and its big-hearted volunteers. I also have a soft spot in my heart for this event because it features two of my Leadership Austin classmates (BCE 2012) Carol Johnson, the Care Communities executive director, and David Smith, who’s being honored for being one of the BEST guys in Austin but probably more specifically for his leading the Hill Country Ride for AIDS all those years. More info…

SEPT 20: Hill Country Nights is always around my birthday and last year I (finally) convinced my husband to take me. So glad we did. The Salt Lick, the warm air, the camaraderie of people who love and care about the conservation of the natural beauty of Central Texas and give to Hill Country Conservancy… Fun gifts and games, too. Go already! More info…

SEPT 27: It’s been a couple of years since I attended The Big Give, but I remember it well. It was a party and a half, a feast for the eyes, a see-and-be-seen scene. This year the I Live Here, I Give Here crew is planning a “big top” theme. Guess if they’re going to put on a circus, might as well make it the official theme. Urgh, wish I could go! SEPT 29: Did I mention that we love the Seton Fund? The 2013 Seton Development Board’s 36th annual gala benefits Seton’s behavioral health telemedicine equipment and program needs, the new Breast Care Center at Seton Medical Center Austin and the Sister Gertrude Levy Endowment for the Poor. As one of the *high* end events in town, this is a tough ticket to get. I attended last year and found the intellectual crowd to be pretty easy to talk to, after all. I happened to sit next to the CEO of Central Health, Patricia Brown, who I was not intimidated by at all … until I figured out who she was. Study before you go to this one. More info…

ONE TO WATCH: OCT 16 the Austin Community Foundation will move its annual dinner out to the Circuit of Americas. Yes, I did just write that. The Four Seasons has long hosted ACF’s “Celebration of Giving” and all of its philanthropy legends. Guess they’re looking for more space…? More info…
