Take the Lead: Black Community Meet-Up

April 3, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for The New Philanthropists: Take the Lead: Black Community Meet Up, co-hosted with Google, 100 Black Men, Austin Area Urban League, BLNDED Media, Measure Austin, DivInc and Huston-Tillotson University for a real-talk discussion on the importance of leadership in the community.

Take the Lead is an opportunity for the Black community to come together in Austin, meet like-minded leaders and discuss the important roles they play on nonprofit boards. Come share your experiences, how you bring your cultural awareness and value to better serve nonprofit boards and ultimately, how Black leaders are instrumental in making Austin a more inclusive community.

Real-Talk panelists include:

  • Lynette Barksdale, Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion — Access (Google Fiber)
  • Terri Broussard Williams, Lobbyist, Philanthropists and Movement Maker
  • Llyas Salahud-Din, Founding board member of The New Philanthropists
  • Jonathan “Chaka” Mahone, Moderator and Director/Founder of Divine and Conjure Enterprises

This meet-up is open to anyone in the community that has served or is interested in serving on nonprofit boards. Allies welcomed.

Light appetizers and drinks will be available.
The New Philanthropists is generously supported by St. David’s Foundation.
