Dear Community Leader,
Recent floods have impacted more than 1,000 households in Southeast Austin. Many of these houses are severely damaged and uninhabitable, leaving many without shelter or day-to-day bare necessities.
Community leaders have mobilized and formed The Austin Relief Alliance: a campaign focused on raising awareness and funds for the rebuilding and re-furnishing efforts in Southeast Austin.
There will be three major events in support of the campaign:
• Give-A-Thon: On Monday, November 25th, KXAN will be hosting Give-A-Thon from 4:30pm – 10:30pm.
• ATX Flood Aid Concert: On Sunday, December 1st, a benefit concert will be held at Fiesta Gardens, bringing people from every corner of Austin and featuring family-friendly activities and live music all day long.
• Keep Austin Generous Week: The second annual Keep Austin Generous Week will take place from Friday, December 6th through Friday December 13th. Its goal is to make Austin the most giving community in the nation and, this year, will feature a party and RaiseDay, each focused on flood relief.
Many individuals, businesses, and organizations have coalesced in support of thousands in need. We ask that you join us in our passionate, determined quest to rebuild our community by sponsoring the Austin Relief Alliance’s efforts.
Additionally, we would appreciate you spreading the word about these events and donating online at MiniDonations.org. Your credit card will be be processed by MiniDonations and the Austin Community Foundation will manage all funds, including cash and check donations – collected through our events. All contributions are tax deductible and only 1% of your contributions will go to admin costs.
On behalf of The Austin Relief Alliance, we strongly encourage you to sponsor our campaign to rebuild Southeast Austin neighborhoods devastated by the Halloween Day Floods. Proceeds will go directly towards helping local families and individuals get back on their feet and rebuilding their lives and homes.
With warmest regards and gratitude,
Council Member Mike Martinez
State Representative Eddie Rodriguez
