Austin’s Family Volunteer Day kicks off volunteering season

In celebration of Family Volunteer Day, on Saturday, November 17, Generation SERVE will host the 2nd annual Austin Families Give Back– a free, community-wide event that brings together families from across Central Texas to volunteer in support of 30 nonprofit organizations. The event will take place at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex (1156 Hargrave St.) in east Austin and will be set up as a family service fair.

Families with kids of all ages will be able to sample service projects in support of organizations in eight different categories: Animal Care, Children, Environment, Education, Health & Wellness, Poverty, Refugees, and Senior Support. All of the projects will be kid-friendly and families will have the opportunity to take a photo at a photo booth and the youngest attendees can listen to stories read by Generation SERVE Teen Leaders!

Volunteer families will learn about the community needs they are serving and the organizations they are supporting, introducing them to the joys of community service. Generation SERVE hopes to inspire these families to start a tradition of family volunteering that will continue for years to come!
